Rehabilitation of irrigation schemes goes on


Ministry of Agriculture and United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia continue rehabilitation of irrigation schemes.

Otar Danelia-Minister of Agriculture and Levan Dvali-Director of United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia inspected ongoing rehabilitation works of Manavi –Tokhliauri main canal of Kvemo Samgori irrigation scheme.

The reach with the length of 2, 8 km of Manavi-Tokhliauri main canal will be cleaned from sediment within the framework of rehabilitation.

 As a result of ongoing arrangements, water will be supplied to 2000 ha of land area of the villages Tokhliauri and Manavi, Sagarejo Municipality.

“We will supply water not only to Sagarejo, but to whole Kakheti region, where it’ll be possible. Works will intensively be continued through whole winter and spring to maximally develop territories and supply water to everywhere it’ll be available” Otar Danelia stated.

Repair works, which were initiated in August, 2014 and will be completed by the end of December of the current year, are being carried out by own resources of Amelioration Systems Company.   Total cost of the works amount to 84 000 GEL.

As Levan Dvali-Company Director, mentioned: “In the nearest future the company will initiate implementation of large-scale project on Kvemo Samgori irrigation scheme. After completion of the project additional 1300 ha of agricultural area in Sagarejo municipality will be water supplied”.
