Rehabilitation works of drainage scheme in Vani municipality are underway


Ministry of Agriculture and United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia continue rehabilitation works of irrigation and drainage schemes.

Rehabilitation works on the drainage scheme in the village Tsikhesulori, Vani municipality are actively going on. The project envisages restoration-rehabilitation of Mughuna main drainage and water collecting canals (with total length of 13 km). The works were initiated in October of the current year and will be completed by the end of the year.

Levan Dvali –Director of United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia and Majoritarian-Deputy of Vani, Member of Agrarian Committee of the Parliament -David Lortkipanidze got acquainted with ongoing works on the canal.

Mughuna main canal has been nonoperational for the last 20 years. Due to the abovementioned, start of spring agricultural works in Mughuna used to be delayed. After completion of rehabilitation works, 405 ha of land area will be drained and around 5000 locals will get benefits.

“As of today, United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia is implementing rehabilitation works on 35 items within the country, including 5 items in Imereti region.  Rehabilitation of additional 20 items is scheduled by the next year.  The company schedules to increase irrigated area up to 200 000 ha, while drainage to cover 100 000 ha”. - Levan Dvali, Company Director, mentioned.
