Amelioration infrastructural projects in Kakheti
General Director of “Georgian Amelioration” ltd under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture has got acquainted with ongoing and completed rehabilitation projects of amelioration infrastructure in Kakheti region. Archil Bukia and amelioration service representatives inspected Kvemo Samgori irrigation scheme in Sagarejo municipality, where rehabilitation of sections of main canal is underway. Restoration works are also carried out on Samtatskaro –Pirosmani irrigation scheme, in Dedoplistskaro municipality.
Within the project, the canal will be cleaned from bushes and sediment; bridges and water division boxes will be arranged and hydraulic structures of the irrigation scheme will be repaired. Restoration works have been completed on Samtatskaro pumping station, while new Pirosmani pumping station has been arranged.
As of present, “Georgian Amelioration” ltd is implementing 11 rehabilitation projects of amelioration infrastructure in Kakheti region.
After completion of the ongoing projects, additional 3 363 ha of agricultural land area will be supplied with irrigation water; water supply will be improved on 5 945 ha, while area of drained land will reach 3 000 ha.
For the last 5 years, total of 1160 km long amelioration canal has been cleaned and arranged; 8 headworks, 1 pumping station and 2 057 various types of hydraulic structures have been repaired.
