Rehabilitation of irrigation and drainage schemes is actively going on all over Georgia
The Ministry of Agriculture and United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia implement rehabilitation of Ajameti irrigation scheme, within the framework of modernization of irrigation schemes. After rehabilitation of the scheme, water will be supplied to total of 3049ha of agricultural land area in Imereti, thereby benefiting 2000 households.
The project envisages rehabilitation of mechanical part of flushing gates of the dam of Ajameti irrigation scheme headworks; outlet units and other hydro-technical structures (inverted siphon, bridge, and culvert). Rehabilitation of distribution canals, arrangement of new network and water division boxes is scheduled too. The main canal (29,6km) will be cleaned; damaged part will be restored and lined with cast-in situ concrete and reinforced concrete slabs.
As a result of ongoing arrangements water will be supplied to 3049ha of agricultural land area of 5 villages (Sviri, Rodinauli, Tskhentaro, Ajameti and Vartsikhe) of Zestafoni, Terjola and Bagdati municipalities. Furthermore, water will be supplied to Zestafoni Ferroalloy Plant via special linking pipe (1 cub. m.) from the aforementioned scheme.
Today, Levan Dvali-Director of United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia has inspected ongoing rehabilitation works on the scheme.
Repair works were initiated in August, 2014 and will be completed in May, 2015. Total cost of the project amounts to GEL 6 199 000.
Besides Ajameti irrigation scheme, United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia implements rehabilitation works simultaneously on 3 different schemes in Imereti, namely: Mashveli, Khoni-Samtredia irrigation schemes and Tsikhe-Sulori drainage scheme.
