Rehabilitation of Lami-Misaktsieli irrigation scheme


Ministry of Agriculture and United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia implement rehabilitation of Lami-Misaktsieli irrigation scheme.

Rehabilitation of main canal, branch #1, secondary and tertiary distribution canals of Lami-Misaktsieli irrigation scheme and works for provision of additional feeding of the main canal and branch #1 from the Narekvavi River are underway.

Within the framework of the project, the main canal will be cleaned from sediment, deformed and damaged slabs will be replaced with new reinforced concrete slabs, branch #1 will be cleaned from sediment, bottom and slopes will be filled with shortcrete, and outlet wells will be arranged.

As a result of implemented works, water will be supplied to 2200 ha of agricultural land area of 8 villages of Mtskheta municipality: Tsilkani, Akhalubani, Tserovani, Dzalisi, Mukhrani, Kanda, Misaktsieli (part), and thereby benefitting 2750 households.

The rehabilitation works were initiated by the Company in December, 2014 and will be completed in April of the current year. Total cost of the project amounts to GEL 3 224 999.

United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia implement rehabilitation works on 36 different items throughout Georgia, including 2 items in Mtsketa-Mtianeti region.

Rehabilitation of irrigation and drainage schemes will enable farmers to increase agricultural production by 40-50%; create opportunity to get stable yield; reduce to a minimum negative impact of processes caused by natural-climate conditions.
