“Georgian Amelioration” Ltd responses to the attempt of robbery of amelioration infrastructure in Kaspi municipality, on April 20.
Decades ago, number of water supplied areas composed about 280 000 ha, while drainage covered 105 000 ha in Georgia. Due to insufficient attention towards the field of amelioration, major part of amelioration schemes became inoperable. Unfortunately, collapse of the field was also due to facts of infrastructure robbery. Consequently, by 2012 water covered areas reached 45 000 ha, while surplus water was removed on only 14 000 ha.
Since 2012, present as a result of rehabilitation works carried out by Ministry of Agriculture and “Georgian Amelioration” Ltd ,water covered areas increased up to 90 000 ha, and drainage covered 26 000 ha. As of today number of customers reach 46 000. It’s inadmissible that similar facts of robbery hinder the use of amelioration infrastructure by the customers of “Georgian Amelioration” Ltd.
Ministry of Agriculture and “Georgian Amelioration” Ltd are targeted at full rehabilitation of amelioration schemes. We hope, that the fact of robbery of infrastructure will not be repeated again, will not impede the use of already aligned infrastructure, by the population and hinder restoration process of amelioration infrastructure.
